I’ve known Darren of Hashtag Sixty 6 for many years so was thrilled when we found a way to work together. HashtagSixty6 is an online Motorsport shop, specialising in Nissan related parts, garment printing and clothing. We decided some on brand illustration art could be the perfect way to expand his visual identity.
I loved drawing the Nissan S13 and some of the other items that he sells. I drew all the assets by hand to give it my style, then vectorised it all to clean scalable lines. This kind of illustration art is ideal for fun, sporty brand identities like Hashtag Sixty 6, and worked really well with Darren’s existing logo.
I did all of the initial drawings in Procreate for iPad before moving over to Adobe Illustrator to create the vectors. You can use Illustrator on iPad now which makes this whole workflow so much more fun. I’d do everything on iPad if possible!
I created 3 different colour variations for the set, for use in different scenarios – and honestly because I thought they looked cool!

Illustration Art as part of a versatile Brand
The assets I created are useful for clothing items, stickers, packaging, online promotion – anywhere that can be decorated with on-brand illustrations. When designing a brand identity, it’s so much deeper and versatile when there is more than a logo, fonts and colours.
We already have some ideas on how we can take this further, with car liveries and some logo variations that can be used. Motorsport in general is covered in branding from cars, to safety suits and helmets, to clothing. It comes with the territory.
Designing merchandise is a dream for most designers, and I’m no exception. It’s really exciting seeing your drawings and illustration art appearing on real life items that can be worn or used. I want to do more of this sort of work in the future.
