I borrowed this little coffee pot thinking it was an interesting and intricate enough thing to paint on its own, allowing me to focus on the details. With all these dark January evenings, it’s easy to control the lighting conditions so I was able to make it shiny and high contrast in a shadow box.

I tried to paint as directly as possible with minimal blending, but it ended up quite smooth with crisper edges than my usual paintings.

It’s 18″ x 12″, painted in oils on panel.
