So I made a pallete from shelf glass – much better than the throwaway paper ones I was using.

Shelf glass is very strong and has rounded edges so is ideal. I also like the shape of this one, although it’s not particularly big!

I painted the background with mid-value grey acrylic paint (maybe a bit too dark!). This is much easier to judge colours on than plain white. Some people like to paint it the same colours they tint their canvases.

The glass has a green tinge to it. To counteract this I added red to the grey to make it slightly warm. This worked pretty well in the end as you should see in the video.

I can see myself making a bigger one of these soon as it doesn’t hold much paint.
