I keep reading how important it is to draw and paint from life to progress as an artist. I was at college the last time I worked from anything other than a photo, so today I setup a still life to paint.

These boots are about to give up on me after a couple of years of constant wear. You know when they reach that ridiculously comfy stage and you can’t imagine wearing anything else on your feet? So this is sort of a tribute to them.

I think it came out alright for an early try. I wanted to try alla prima (wet in wet, or all in one session) and got a bit rushed at the end as I ran out of time. Therefore the overall finish isn’t quite what I wanted, but I learnt a lot from the process, which is all that matters.
